Is it possible to stay on an island on the Great Barrier Reef?
Yes it is. The Great Barrier Reef is home to a multitude of islands and many of these offer experiences and accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes. Many of Australia's most luxurious lodges are found on some of these islands including Lizard Island off Cairns, and qualia on Hamilton Island. Others are known for their wildlife experiences such as Heron Island or Lady Elliot Island at the southern end of the reef.
Is it possible to learn to scuba dive in Australia?
Yes it is. Travellers can complete their PADI certification in various locations including our two famous reef systems - the Great Barrier Reef and the Ningaloo Reef. Some operators offer a 'live aboard' learn to dive experience over several days, and some offer the opportunity to experience an introductory dive on a day visit to the reef.

How can my customers access Kangaroo Island?
Customers can access 'KI' by plane, or by car & ferry. It's a popular addition to the end of the Great Ocean Road touring route, or it is easily accessed from Adelaide. The flight from Adelaide to Kingscote (KGC) takes 30mins. Self-drivers can drive approximately two hours from Adelaide to Cape Jervis in order to catch the 45 minute ferry across to the port of Penneshaw. Not all hire car companies allow their cars to be taken on the ferry, so best to check the requirements with each. It is also worth taking longer to experience the wineries and beaches of McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula on the drive from Adelaide. The Kangaroo Island fact sheet is packed with useful information.
How can my customers get to Rottnest Island?
Rottnest Island is easily accessible by ferry from Perth or Fremantle. The journey takes between 40 and 60 minutes with Rottnest Express. The Three Days in Perth itinerary has more information on what your customers can see and do during their stay in Perth.
How can my customers get to Bondi Beach from the city in Sydney?
Bondi Beach is approximately 20 to 30 minutes from the city centre by public transport. Catch the bus directly from the city, or the train to Bondi Junction then a very short bus from there. Alternatively, a taxi from the city centre is another option. The Three Days in Sydney itinerary has some more suggestions for your customers' time in Sydney.
Is it safe to swim at Australian beaches?
Australia’s popular beaches are usually patrolled by volunteer lifesavers from October to April, and red and yellow flags mark the safest area for swimming. It is also important that visitors protect themselves from the Australian sun - as generations of Australian school children have learnt - 'slip on a t-shirt, slop on some sunscreen, slap on a hat!'. The Health & Safety fact sheet has more information on keeping safe and well in Australia.
